Sales recruitment 'at heart of RBS return to strength'

The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) will return to standalone strength through a sales recruitment drive, according to its director of group resourcing.

Susan Bor told Recruiter that in the current climate, how the bank deals with sales recruitment candidates and gets them through the door "has never been more critical".

She added that most people the organisation attracts are not looking for financial sales jobs "for the money", but stated that unless RBS becomes more attractive, particularly on the investment banking side, it could lose out to its rivals when hiring people.

"We will just have to wait and see what happens over the next six to nine months," added Ms Bor.

Last week, two positions, including one sales recruitment opportunity, became available at the bank, with Steve Ashley and Chris Fleming both leaving RBS.

Mr Fleming, a senior salesman, and his colleague quit after dissatisfaction that RBS is being forced to scale back bonuses.

As a recruitment provider to many of the UK’s major banks, mortgage lenders and building societies Aaron Wallis have a deserved reputation within Financial Services recruitment. Their dedicated FS consultants recruit sales professionals across Retail Banking and Financial Services including IFA’s and Mortgage Broking.
